SA Legion Europe Remembrance and Lunch

Members of the South African Legion Europe Branch will gather with a limited number of friends and family (in conformity with prevailing Dutch Social Distancing guidelines) to commemorate the Fallen of the Commonwealth in a small informal gathering.
10h30: Meet at Rusthof cemetery* Leusden, The Netherlands
11h00: Two minutes’ silence and wreath-laying
12h00: Gather at De Kabouterhut, Amersfoort for lunch
For remembrance: Legion Beret, Blazer and Medals
For lunch: Smart casual e.g. SA Legion polo shirt or rugby jersey
Family members and children welcome
Please note that this will be an informal gathering in conformity with Dutch COVID-19 social distancing protocols.
* More than 400 casualties of the First and Second World War are buried there. While there are no South Africans buried there, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission plot contains the graves of 1 soldier and 143 airmen from the UK, 60 Canadian airmen, 11 Australian airmen, 13 New Zealand airmen and 6 Polish airmen making a total of 234 burials of which 12 are unidentified. Most were killed en route to or from bombing raids over Germany. The cemetery also contains war graves of Czechoslovak, Dutch, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian and Yugoslav nationals. It is also less than 5km from De Kabouterhut where the lunch is to be held.
